No Boys Allowed.

The feeds are swarming with posts on Culture Shock in the last few days. This is a most excellent thing. I, too, wanted to join in on the fun but definitely didn’t wanna go the traditional angle. All the beautiful ladies designs had been well covered and will continue to be blogged about for the next month. It’s a sad fact of Second Life, ladies rule – boys drool.

So this morning, I went with the intention of finding some men’s items that donated to the cause. I fucking love having a female avie in a men’s full suit. Tre sexeh. (By and by, I do recommed Shai Delacroix’s men’s shop for the best suits. She has a special touch with menswear and her details are fabulous.)

I will be fucking damned if I could only find ONE outfit that was menswear AND donated to the Médecins Sans Frontières. Photos Nikolaidis of A:S:S, come on DOWN! You’re the winner! *confetti* Thank you for representing the lads even though we know you are fully capable of doing some gorgeously dramatic designs for ladies.

CAVEAT. I realize I may be incorrect that A:S:S is the “only” male clothing designs in the entire event. I did thoroughly look through the entire show, however humanity is flawed. I would love to be proven wrong, and would promise to go right over and buy those new said clothes. There were plenty of outfits that were men’s, but they did NOT contribute to the cause. I only purchase items that donate.

Well boys. Looks like you’ve been shafted again. I guess we’re making up for some lost time in real life. Suck it up, put on your Big-Boy hat, and hold your girlfriend’s purse like a real man would.

Artwalk 2012

I enjoy sharing various events on Second Life that I deem interesting to visit. Large events that are educational, helpful, fun, & interesting are what I always look for. Things that don’t involve shopping go high on the list because, although I really enjoy many of the fairs that involving shopping, you kinda want something that takes you away from the commerce sector of Second Life.

I really need to design a “Tipsy Approved” seal.

The Raglan Shire Artwalk 2012 just opened on May 6th & runs until the 27th of this month. On display is real life artwork as well as virtual art, sculptures, & photography. I highly recommend checking this out if you are into real life & Second Life artwork. My favorite area of the exhibit is the Second Life sculptures. I am always in awe over virtual sculptures. The creativity of virtual residents in the art world never ceases to amaze me. Be sure to have enough time to walk around the entire walk as it is pretty large.

Yes. I barked at the cat.

Although the artwalk is housed on the tiny sims it is for avatars of all sizes. Please be sure to come out & check out the various artwork that was created by other virtual residents!

The artwalk runs from now until May 27th.

Culture Shock 2012 – June in Zuma Hills

Culture Shock 2012 has opened, and is jam-packed with 180+ stores!  This event runs through May 26th, 2012.  This is a Chic Management charity event benefiting Médecins Sans Frontières with stores donating 50%-100% of sales of a selected item.  Check out the Culture Shock Blog for more information, and a list of stores, as well as Médecins Sans Frontières for more information about this organization, and the events sponsor – Modavia Fashion.    Teleport to Culture Shock 2012

June in Zuma Hills

I’m wearing a mesh dress from Celoe, which is available at Culture Shock 2012.  It’s a lovely mesh frock available in a number of fashionable trendy colors. I particularly like the silkiness of the fabric, and the lovely gathered bodice. I’m wearing Adam n Eve‘s Amaris skin, in natural with the provided small freckles optional layer. and SLink‘s Sarah hair in caramel, another mesh item.  I have contrasted against the turquoise shade with accessories with warmer tones, like Zaara‘s Balini Necklace in Carnelian-Cyan, her Kashiti Bobble ring, and clutch purse from DeLa in Orange, Ison‘s color block pumps in a warm cognac, and Izzie’s latest release – Spring/Summer 2012 Classic Nails in Tangerine.  Izzie’s is also participating in culture shock, check out her booth there, to see cute tri-color tops she has.

June

I am so over the moon with these nails, as I was having a problem finding just the right shade of nails to compliment and contrast with much of my newer purchases this season, so I approached Izzie Button to consider adding them. They are exactly what I was looking for! I’m completely excited about fashion this year do to the plentiful offerings by many designers featuring the 2012 Pantone color trends.  Seriously I am in heaven, and never have been more excited to hit the stores, and get dressed.  They have me happily wearing orange.  I’m in shock.

My location photo was taken just outside the Zuma Hills prefab from Trompe Loeil available at Culture Shock 2012, This modern, open plan home is made of mesh, and features a lovely pool, many built in features like fireplaces, art, kitchen, lighting, and cypress outside the front entrance. Also shown in my photo are Trompe Loeil’s Zuma Hills barstools in the kitchen area, and couch, chairs, and plants in the living room area.  I’ve used aDORKable poses for this pose, but not the specific ones they have available at Culture Shock, I plan on using these for another post, be sure to check out their booth there.

Plan Your Virtual Weekend

The weekend is almost upon us! (Puts on a prim party hat. Blows up balloons.) I wanted to give everyone a head start this weekend with a list of things going on around the virtual grid. Start planning your Second Life  fun!

Exciting isn’t it?

1. The Fantasy Faire is still going on until April 29th so you still have a few days left to visit. Worth a visit to check out everything that is offered this year as well as give for the American Cancer Society Relay For Life.

Barking Might Get Me Stepped On!

2. Prim Charades happens every Friday at 5pm SLT  at the Raglan Shire. The basic idea of the game is to build something while everyone tries to guess what you are building. The avie who guesses correctly gets to build next. Fun to just watch if you’re not the greatest of builders. This is a tiny event but everyone, big & small, is welcome to come check it out.

Side Note: This months current theme around the Raglan Shire is the old west. There is a Native American village as well as a tiny western town. If you have a tiny avatar (or not) I suggest checking it out as well as checking out their events calendar. Loads of fun! If you don’t have a tiny avatar then get a free one at the Welcome Center to try your hand at being small. Who knows…you might dig it.

I've Been Tar'd & feather'd Y'all.

3. Live.Love.Laugh Family Fair will be going on until May 5th. Proceeds from sales marked for donation as well as donation kiosks are set up to benefit Autism Speaks.

4. Fridays at 7pm SLT you can sit & watch the Beautiful Freaks Burlesque Circus. I REALLY dig burlesque so to see it in a virtual world is pretty neato to me. If I am around that late on a Friday night I like to go & watch the show.

5. The Falmouth Hotel is one of the SCARIEST places I have visited on Second Life. It’s not one of the usual “Let’s throw some blood & body parts all over the place then add an iconic horror villain.” kind of place. This one has atmosphere & it’s virtually unnerving. When visiting be sure to check out EVERYTHING. All of the rooms. All of the doors. It’s all worth it. Don’t forget to make a stop at the hotels bar. Trust me. Be sure to take a friend with you as it’s more fun to have someone to share the scare.

Scary Check In Guy Is Scary!

I plan on writing a big review on it next week to show just how awesome this place is & why you should make it freaky stop in your SL travels. I would insert a “Hotel California” joke in here right about now but I REALLY can’t stand the Eagles. Sorry. LOOOOOONNNGGG story!

Hope this helps you out a bit with your Second Life weekend plans. Go forth, explore, & have a bit of fun!

Pose Fair 2012

PF2012

Pose Fair 2012 opened April 15th, and runs through April 30th, 2012.  Plenty of time to visit the 120 stores that are participating.  Two sims full of favorites, and I’m sure you will still find a few ‘new to you’ places!  The regions are arranged  with a variety of stores and family oriented stores on POSE FAIR NORTH, and more mature and adult content stores on POSE FAIR SOUTH.  For a listing of stores, and slurls check out the Pose Fair 2012 post here.

Pose Fair 2012 also is having a Photography Competition on Flickr, with judging taking place on May 2nd.  Featuring prizes of $15,000L for First Place, $10,000L for Second Place, and $5,000L for Third Place!

Family Fair To Benefit Autism Speaks

I do not have a Second Life family but support those that go that route in their virtual lives. I am glad that there are people out there who have found a family that is as supportive as any real life family could be. Sometimes even more.

The 2nd Annual Live.Laugh.Love Family Fair is currently running until May 5th. This is a fair based on family related SL (Example: children’s stores). Even if you do not have a Second Life family or are not a virtual child I still think it is important to visit because the proceeds benefit “Autism Speaks“. Make a donation to this charity because it is one that is extremely important to me for personal reasons. Every time I walk out of my house in real life I never leave without my autism awareness bracelet on. Every little bit helps & I feel that it is extremely important to educate others about Autism as well as support the efforts of this charity.

Haaallpppp!!! Can't reach the snow cones!

Since I am not a child nor have a family I gave at one of the donation kiosks around the small fair. Helping out is just that easy!

Piggies!!

With all of the large fairs that are currently going on & getting a lot of press I thought it was important to mention this so that more people will be aware of it & donate to a good cause.

The fair runs until May 9th. Here are a few important links for you:
